Turning now to my Bobbies Family her Parents were Mordechai Leib KATZ
Born abt 1835 LAGOW, RUSSIA
Died 16/APR/1905 STASZOW. RUSSIA Age abt 70 years old
Married 2/JAN/1865 STASZOW, RUSSIA Sura Hendla FRYDMAN
Born 3/JUL/1845 STASZOW, RUSSIA
Died UNKNOWN Age Unknown
They had 6 Children.
My Bobbie Rywka was the 3rd Eldest
Mordechai Lieb KATZ was a Merchant & lived in the Market Square in STASZOW when he was Married to Sura Handla & where their eldest child Dworka was Born. By 1868 Mordechai & Family moved to the smaller Shtetl of LAGOW where the rest of the family was Born. He lived there until sometime before his Death, by which time he moved back to STASZOW where he Died in 1905.

Married abt 1902 (probably in STASZOW) Harry EISMAN & had 4 Daughters
Harry was Born in OSTROVITZ (OSTROWIEC) near RADOM (93 Miles South of WARSZAWA) in what was RUSSIA but today’s POLAND on the 14/APR/1882 & his surname was originally EISENNMAN or EISENMAN. He Emigrated around 1910 & must have come to ENGLAND before eventually going to CANADA, as he was classed as a British Subject when he was naturalised
in CANADA on 25/MAR/1920. This is somewhat at odds to what is in the 1930 Census when he’s living at 1024 Bryant Avenue, Bronx, NEW YORK, USA, when he is registered as an “Alien”. Harry Died 7/MAY/1947 in Brighton Beach, NEW YORK. Dworka aka Dora who was also classed as an “Alien” in the same Census.
Dworka & Harry had a Daughter called Goldie who Married Marty BARRETT & both of them were actors in the Yiddish Theatre. Though Born in TORONTO, by 1930 she was living with her Husband Marty at 234 Sixth Street, Manhattan, NEW YORK, NY, USA. They lived in BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA in the 1930’s, but returned to NEW YORK on 22/JUL/1940. By 7/SEP/1952 they were living at 315 West End Avenue, NEW YORK & Marty Died in August 1972 in Brooklyn, NEW YORK. Goldie moved to MIAMI BEACH; FL, & Died there in June 1984. They never had children

The next eldest was Sara Helen EISMAN who Married Max SCHNUR & they had a Daughter Marjorie & a Son Martin. Sara was Born 15/JUN/1912 in UTICA, NY & by 1927 was living in BUFFALO, NY. SARA Died in June 1978 in the small town of HARRIMAN, in Orange County, NY.
They also had a Daughter called Edyth who Married Israel RICHMAN on 6/JAN/1938 in Brooklyn, NY. Edyth Born as Ana ISENMAN or ISMAN on 2/JUL/1910 at 11 Salina Street, UTICA, NY had moved with the Family by 1930 to 1020 Bryant Avenue, Bronx NY, & by the time of her Marriage in 1938 lived at 3131 Brighton 7th Street, Brooklyn, NYC, NY.
Israel was Born 18/MAR/1913 11th Street, Brooklyn, NYC, & by the time of his Marriage lived at 834 Schenectady Avenue, Brooklyn, NYC, NY. By the time of their Deaths in 1968 & 1970 respectively they were both living In Brighton Beach, NY
They had a Son called David RICHMAN who was Born 22/SEP/1946 in Brighton Beach, NY. We met David’s Wife Carol in FLORIDA after David had already Died on 14/NOV/2000. Carol moved to FLORIDA after David’s death & lived at 3153 Cocoplum Circle, Karanda Village 1, COCONUT CREEK, FL. Carol eventually moved to DURHAM, NC, & lived with Liz & Andy, & where she Died 5/JUN/2011.
We also met their Children, firstly Ivan whose Wedding we attended. He Married Reba Christine YOUNG, whose Father was a Deacon in the Baptist Church who also conducted the ceremony. When he finished a Rabbi dressed from head to toe in White with Gold Trimmings stepped forward in true Hollywood style to conduct the Jewish half of the service. Unfortunately, the Marriage didn’t last.
David RICHMAN
We also knew both Sisters, mainly Elizabeth known as Liz who Married a very nice non-Jewish guy from BRADFORD called Andy GARLICK in DEERFIELD BEACH, FL on 12/FEB/2006. They adopted a beautiful little Girl called Isabella who is now about 9 years old & little boy called AJ who is about 5 years old. We both liked Liz & got on with her & her Mother Carol very well. We never really got to know Andy which is a shame as he is a nice guy (well he is from Yorkshire). We have yet to meet the children, which is something else to look forward to.
